Include board games and cards, too. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Work&lt;/b&gt; - promotions, sales, raises, pats on the back, contests, trips, saved money for the company, teamwork, great days, winning, solving a problem, saving a life, got elected, a finalist for the job, made the big sale, got the listing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Personal&lt;/b&gt; - convinced someone to a new way of thinking, landscaping, painting, art, cleaning the house, new clothes, great dinners, children in plays or sports, losing weight, eliminating a bad habit, building/fixing something,&lt;br /&gt;tuning up the car, new car day, new home, getting a letter/notification, made dinner, helped a friend.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Social&lt;/b&gt; - kept your temper, you were elegant, gave a great speech, the party was a success.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;b&gt;Health&lt;/b&gt; - cholesterol is down, stopped smoking, lost weight, ran 100 yards/one mile/three miles, climbed the mountain, changed your diet, walked by the chips in the store, etc.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do this for every area of your life.  I have one for kicking a 50 yard field goal.  Don't you believe I'll ever forget it.  Not when NFL kickers have missed 30 yarders to lose games!!  But even the small ones like walking by the potato chips today.  That's a victory and shouldn't be discounted.  Because you were strong just then, and deserve recognition.  No one else is likely to do it, so you MUST.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't think little things are not important.  &lt;u&gt;They're everything -- everything&lt;/u&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Watch during sporting events, when a player makes a mistake and the other team scores as a result. I wanted to pass it on to you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No other food known to man has what lemon hasn't even lime and other citrus fruit. Lemons have atomic power, a very special form of vitamin C, and are the best way to lower high sugar. Lemons regenerate the liver, strengthen stomach acids and salivary enzymes, and help the pancreas, thyroid, and adrenal glands,as well as all other glands and organs of the body. Also the lemon water helps to strengthen the back because of the Vitamin C it contains.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Lemon water has to be made from fresh lemons. Realemon from a bottle or can or plastic lemon does not work. Even freshly made lemon water is good only twelve hours after it is made. The lemon has to be diluted in distilled water. It the lemon juice is taken straight, it was eat the dentine off your teeth if there are any cracks in the enamel.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The formula for making lemon water is add one ounce of lemon juice to eight ounces of distilled water. You can dilute it more if you prefer. One average lemon contains one ounce of juice. You can take eight ounces of the lemon and water mixture 1/2 hour to one hour before breakfast, hot or cold, buy only four ounces per hour maximum is the best thereafter. The average person should have one to six lemons per day in two quarts of distilled water. If your sugar is high, you should take one to three lemons per day in one quart of distilled water. If you sugar is very high, you should take two to six lemons per day in two quarts of distilled water. At first, it may taste very sour. This means your sugar is high. As you continue to take it, it will start to taste better as your sugar goes down.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is the best thing for quenching your thirst. Soon you will notice you no longer desire soda pop and other sweets. In fact, soda pop even starts to taste too sweet. If you take lemon water for the rest of your life, you can add 10 to 30 years to it. If the lemon burns your stomach, it is a sign that you lack calcium. Take calcium gluconate, four to eight, for four to sixteen weeks, till the lemon no longer burns your stomach. He thought to himself,&lt;br&gt; &lt;b&gt;"My problems are nearly over!"&lt;/b&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;When he found the old man and asked him "Old man, I'm told you can help me rid myself of all my struggles and hardship- can you help me?"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The old man replied, "I'm sorry to disappoint you my young friend,but I cannot help you"&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"But why? - I've come all this way - you have to help me!", the young man exclaimed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"I cannot rid you of any of your problems, you can only do that for yourself"- the old man said.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"But you can't deny me the very thing came all this way to find!",said the young man.&lt;br /&gt;The old man took a deep breath and said: "I cannot deny you anything, you can only deny yourself".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"But, but... I demand you help me - now! I've struggled for months to find you and I am not leaving until you help me"- the young man replied.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"My young friend, in time you will learn, the harder you struggle,the more will slip from your grasp. I did and the habit of cleaning off everything on my plate as followed me into adulthood. It is important to learn how to leave food on your plate if you have had enough to eat. We don't have to stuff ourselves just because there is food in front of us. When I first heard the number I thought to myself, "Hey, I can do that...in fact I probably already do!" What I quickly found out when I attached a pedometer to myself is that it takes quite a bit of planning to get in 10,000 steps every day. They tend to be higher priced and many times they don't taste very good. Pick a few diet foods that really help you and stick with those. If you eat too many diet foods, you will start to feel deprived and then a binge is waiting just around the corner to get you! As with everything else, moderation is the key here. I use light mayonnaise, light salad dressing, and no fat Pringles (which by the way are very good!) Everything else I eat falls under the category of "normal" food.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do Not Diet....make lifestyle changes instead! If you eat too quickly, you will eat too much before getting the message!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Eating slowly is difficult for many of us in the fast paced society we live in and fast food restaurants and busy schedules only tend to make things worse. If you need a physical reminder, put down your fork between each mouthful. You can also drink water during your meal to help you slow down and it has the added benefit of filling your stomach. Of course one of the easiest ways to slow down is to eat with other people and engage in lively conversation as you are eating. As you eat, make sure to listen carefully to the others at the table, when you do this your eating speed will naturally slow down. Eating quickly is a habit and as with any habit it will take time and patience to change it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Slow down and enjoy your meal! Because old patterns are in your unconscious for a reason,they are there to protect you from having the original trauma that you felt many years ago. The leader of our group asked us to define our weight loss progress in some way other than the numbers on the scale. She told us this would be another way to motivate ourselves in our weight loss efforts if we are caught in a weight loss plateau or when our motivation is flagging. She gave everyone a piece of paper and we were asked to write something that is a measure of our weight loss beyond the obvious number on the scale. I wrote:&lt;br /&gt;This past Saturday I was able to walk 10 1/2 miles.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Without a doubt losing weight and exercising have given me more energy, motivation, and an overall sense of pride in myself. Study leader John Jakicic, Ph.D., of the University of Pittsburgh said, "Social support adds accountability," he added, "A friend or co-worker can be your weight-loss mentor, the important thing is to review your progress together at least weekly."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Use the "buddy system" to lose maximum weight or join a weight loss support group. The support you gain will keep you focused and on track! If you are like many people, you will find that you take care of others before you take care of  yourself.  During your weight loss journey it is very important that you take care of yourself emotionally, spiritually, and physically. If you are anything like me, you have probably driven yourself almost crazy getting on and off the scale every day wondering how much weight you have lost.. Don't do that to yourself! The problem with weighing yourself every day is that your body's natural weight can fluctuate depending on the time of the day, what you ate, what you are wearing, fluid retention etc... When you constantly weigh yourself you run the risk of becoming discouraged or even giving up if you don't like the results you see.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remember, the number on the scale isn't the only indicator of your weight loss success. When we do this we ultimately "cheat" and with that all of the feelings of self loathing start to creep back into our minds. Instead of allowing this to happen, continue to have snacks that you enjoy. Either do it in moderation or choose healthy snacks that won't make you feel bad when you eat them. Chocolate typically isn't my thing so I am not particularly tempted by it. I enjoy salty/crunchy things and cheese. I absolutely refuse to eat the fat-free cheese because I just don't like the taste of it. So I occasionally have the real stuff but I make sure to measure it out and count my points. When I do it this way, I stay in control and I can enjoy what I like without the guilt! I found 2 products that really satisfy my need for "crunch":&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fat Free Pringles&lt;br /&gt;Light Nacho Cheese Doritos&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Figure out what snacks you just aren't willing to give up and either find suitable substitutes or eat them in moderation. I opened my fortune cookie and found that it was extremely relevant to my weight loss journey.&lt;br /&gt;It read:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;"No one knows what he can do until he tries."&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That's right...the only way you can fail is if you quit! Your weight loss journey is bound to be frustrating at times. Know what you want, surround yourself with supportive people, and above all, keep trying! Notice what you like about yourself and make a mental checklist of things you would like to change.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You should do this several times a week and until you get used to it, it might feel a bit uncomfortable doing it.  Just remember that it isn't a time to "beat yourself up" but rather a time to reflect on the changes you are making or would like to make.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sometimes we are our own worst critics, saying things like "You are fat, your thighs look like jello, you are ugly." or whatever else pops into our minds.   Engage in positive self talk and when you are finished, smile at yourself!
